On May 3, the Institute hosted the program “Boston #StandsWithImmigrants: The Stories Behind the Faces.” Individuals who are featured in the Boston #StandsWithImmigrants project shared their personal immigration stories in a conversation moderated by Cheryl Hamilton from the International Institute of New England and Curator of Suitcase Stories.

Boston #StandsWithImmigrants is a photography initiative that projects large-format images of Boston immigrants upon public spaces and landmarks throughout the city in order to highlight the critical role that immigrants play in our society.

Edward M. Kennedy Institute president Mary K. Grant, Ph.D. opened the program which featured a Q&A with photographer Erik Jacobs and storytelling by U-Meleni Mhlaba-Adebo, ThiThi Aye, and Nano Raies.
