In 2019, the Edward M. Kennedy Institute participated in offering a “Free Fun Friday” through support from the Highland Street Foundation. The Institute offered free admission all day on July 26.

Highlights included:

• Acting as a Senator-for-a-day and learning about how our government works.
• Debating and voting in interactive programs.
• Seeing history come to life in a historical program about The Civil Rights Act of 1964.
• Learning the stories of twenty historic and contemporary trailblazers through artistic representations in the A Seat at the Table exhibit.
• Enjoying hands-on activities like campaign button creations and contributing to a community-made art project.
• Exploring with the new “Senator-in-training” activity guide books.
• Visiting the Senate Staff Office exhibit and seeing a replica of Senator Kennedy’s Washington, D.C. office.
• Posing for fun photos with family and friends with the Institute’s special photo booth.
