Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate

On December 2, the Kennedy Institute welcomed state and local leaders, advocates, providers, and members of the business community to discuss the barriers to affordable, quality child care across Massachusetts and the effect this has on industry and family security. The panel explored efforts to strengthen access to affordable care at the local and state level, how the lack of child care impacts the Commonwealth’s workforce, economy and family security, and the importance of building a talent pipeline.

Moderated by Lauren Kennedy, co-founder of Neighborhood Villages, this conversation featured:

Samantha Aigner-Treworgy, Commissioner, Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care

JD Chesloff, Executive Director, Massachusetts Business Roundtable

Theresa S. Loch, Teacher Researcher, Worcester Child Development Head Start Program

Maria Gonzalez-Moeller, CEO, The Community Group

Amy O’Leary, Campaign Director, Early Education for All, Strategies for Children

Tania del Rio, Executive Director, City of Boston Mayor’s Office of Women’s Advancement

The Institute was pleased to partner with Neighborhood Villages on this event and also offered free child care on-site for the duration of the program.
